Xylonite’s traditional stamping ground is the east coast of England, more specifically North Foreland to Orfordness. So in the Summer she can be regularly seen off the coasts of Suffolk, Essex and Kent. She is frequently in London too – on the Thames and at St Katherine docks.
Whilst she was in trade she may well have regularly journeyed up as far as Newcastle and down south as far as Devon and Cornwall or even across the Channel to France.
Despite her 88 years Xylonite’s all steel construction coupled with the recent strengthening of her hull means she is as seaworthy a barge as she’s ever been.
